This week, Sundale Community Foundation launches another round of grants for charities operating in Nambour and surrounds and we’re looking for applications.
Sundale Community Foundation is an extension of the aged care provider Sundale. After fifty years serving the elders of the Sunshine Coast, Sundale gifted one million dollars to set up the Foundation. That money was invested to generate income, and SCF uses those profits to invest in community projects.

On top of the money generated by the Sundale nest egg, this year we are very excited to announce a new partnership with Ken Mills Toyota. The Sundale Community Foundation grants round of 2018 will include a grant of up to $5000 thanks to Ken Mills.

We’d love to attract more grants like the one from Ken Mills. As a big supporter of Nambour Brett Mills was very keen to get on board, recognising SCF has the infrastructure and systems to find worthy projects in the area. Let me know if your business might be interested too.
The Buderim Foundation has been operating for more than a decade and has distributed almost half a million dollars to projects within the 4556 postcode, we hope to be similarly successful.

If you’re a registered charity, our 2018 grants round opens on Monday. It doesn’t matter how big or small a project is, we might be able to help.
The Foundation targets charities advancing health, education, social and or public welfare, culture and the natural environment, but we encourage any organisation providing benefit to the public to get in touch. We don’t ask organisations to jump through any major hoops. Our grant criteria are very clear, just make sure you read the notes and tailor your application to meet the requirements. Remember, you must be a registered charity, but we have made the process easy, applicants don’t have to write us a novel, just outline the project and if we have any questions we’ll ask.
The 2017 round of grants were delivered to four outstanding groups. We gave cash to Parent 2 Parent in Woombye, a parent driven organisation supporting people with a disability.

My favourite recipient was probably Story Dogs, a local group taking trained dogs to morning reading in primary schools. Research has shown that children who struggle to read often gain confidence when invited to read aloud to a pup instead of a human.
SCF also gave the Sunshine Men’s Shed money to build a new utility shed at Palmwoods. And we helped a little-known organisation, River Road Equine Therapy, a beautiful group offering support and learning to troubled teens.
